Who we are
instore Technologies, Inc. (“instore,” “we,” “us”) operates the instore platform at instoreinc.com. instore powers the hold-to-try reservation system on participating merchant product pages, operates instoreinc.com/map, a consumer-facing product search and store discovery tool, and an instore-wide membership and QR loyalty program.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to consumers who interact with the instore widget on merchant product pages, use instoreinc.com/map, or enroll in the instore membership program.
What we collect
- Name, email address, and phone number (when signing up through instoreinc.com/map or enrolling in membership)
- Phone number and name (when placing a hold-to-try reservation)
- Membership code, tier, and points balance
- Product and store selections, including items you save or check availability for
- Location data (when using instoreinc.com/map, with consent)
- Device and usage data (IP address, browser type) for security and service operation
How we use membership and loyalty data
When you enroll in the instore membership program, we use your name, email, phone number, and shopping activity to create and maintain your membership account, issue your digital membership pass and QR code, track points earned and redeemed, and improve your in-store experience.
When you show your membership QR code at a participating store, store associates may scan it to view your membership profile, points balance, and items you have saved online. Your public membership pass displays your name, tier, points, and membership code — not your email or phone. Full contact details are available only to authorized store associates through the instore merchant tools.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use membership data for third-party advertising.
How we use phone numbers and SMS
When a consumer places a hold-to-try reservation, we collect their phone number to send transactional SMS messages related to that reservation. These messages include: reservation confirmations, status updates, hold reminders, and hold release notifications.
We do not use phone numbers for marketing. We do not sell or share phone numbers with third parties. Phone numbers are used solely for the purpose of communicating reservation status through our A2P 10DLC registered SMS program.
SMS consent
By providing your phone number and placing a hold-to-try reservation, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages from instore related to your reservation. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on reservation activity.
Opting out of SMS
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from instore. Once you opt out, you will not receive further SMS messages from us unless you initiate a new reservation and provide consent again.
How we protect your data
We use industry-standard security measures to protect the data we collect. Phone numbers and personal information are stored securely and access is limited to the systems that need it to deliver the reservation service.
Third-party services
We use Twilio to send SMS messages. Twilio has its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
Data retention
Reservation data, membership accounts, loyalty activity, and associated contact information are retained for as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
